WHAT IS DAM?
DAM is a decentralized art zine. Each issue is centered on a theme, a prompt and specific hashtag. Some issues are made over a long weekend at the start of each month. For these open issues all artists are welcome to contribute. We also release curated issues called DAM singles.
WHAT ARE DAM SINGLES?
DAM singles are curated monthly editions by a single artist on chain. This could be dedicated to an art movement, another artist, or the release of a completely new body of work. The work within a DAM single is a mix of pieces specifically made for the issue. culturehacker and lowbrow will be doing the first two DAM singles. From there the community will help to curate future artists. Proceeds from DAM singles are at the discretion of the artist - meaning they can determine if the funds go to them, are split with a charity and/or a portion comes back to DAM. In the end the artist has full control and ownership of their work. Each DAM single is created, designed, laid out and minted directly by the artist.
WHAT IS DAM PHYSICAL?
DAM Physical is inspired by the Fluxus Art movement’s postal art experiments. (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mail_art). DAM Physical builds upon the postal art tradition by inviting a group of global artists to create physical/digital works (each artist creating pieces/pages) that they then send to another artist of their choosing. Artists are responsible for the mailing of the work to other artists. DAM is working on a fund to help with the shipping of the pieces. We see DAM Physical as quarterly meaning that we’ll do it four times a year (winter, spring, summer, fall). Each of the DAM Physical issues is an experiment that will culminate in a special IRL gallery show and physical/digital auction.
DID SOMEONE SAY PARTY?
When the issue is ready we host a "DAM zine issue release party" and this is held within a twitter space or discord.
THIS IS AN AWESOME INITIATIVE, HOW CAN I HELP SUPPORT THE EFFORT?
DAM asks contributors to consider giving a small royalty to DAM's wallet when they mint. Some artists have made DAM a collaborator on pieces while others have tipped directly.
This all helps offset design, curation and logistics. Proceeds also go to collecting art for DAM’s permenat vault. It’s a give what you want or can. The amount is totally up to you and if you can't or don’t want to that's cool too.

HOW DO WE CREATE A ZINE IN A WEEK?
You're free to make your work in any program you like. You can work in any medium just as long as the final output is a high res 8.5” x 11” png or jpeg.
As you create your work we ask that you share the evolution of your pieces via twitter. Make sure to use @dam_zine and the issue’s hashtag so we can find you. Think of it as snapshots of your creative process.
If you're open to people remixing and/or building upon your work just add the word REMIX when you share your progress images over twitter.
You're also free to do a collab. Combine your page with other artists and get a two page or more spread.
HOW DOES MY WORK GET INTO THE ZINE?
To submit your pages just share what you’ve created with a tweet that includes the issue’s hashtag. We search the hashtag to assemble the zine.
